Blog #11 Dusting off the old camera
Ok so I’ve dusted off the old camera. I tried
the manual focusing on the camera and most pictures turned out fairly decent
for the most part. I left a few of the blurry pictures in the group just to let
people get a sort of behind the scenes look to show how all the pictures
photographers make aren’t perfect. (I’ve labeled myself a photographer, isn’t that
something? Ha!!) I really liked the pictures I took of my dog. It made me think
of when I’m older and he’s gone I can have something to remember him by. I
think it’s an interesting thing to think about.
Let’s be honest, he’s a pretty photogenic dog! The plan to take my
camera to Wind Creek fell through due to my stupidity in forgetting to bring
the camera with me to Alex City. I took
some of the photos the portrait way opposed to landscape. I think these would
have been much more effective if the “models” didn’t move around too much. My
computer is running dead, I would type some more and ramble on a little, but I
need to get this uploaded because I don’t know where my charger is.

Blog #10
I haven’t done anything in a long time with the camera.
There has been stuff to photograph at my house like squirrels and stuff, but
all the flowers that bloomed decided to miraculously die. All the rain that
recently came down probably killed them, but either way it’s no excuse for me
not making any photos. I’m going to Alex City this weekend for a fishing
tournament and if I go to the lake I could probably make some pretty good
photos. My only concern would be getting the camera wet. Although it’s not likely that that would
happen, my brother got thrown off the boat the weekend before last when it was
going forty miles an hour. So there is a
possibility that could happen. I think the tournament at Lake Martin this week
is one that my dad and his friend created. They created a foundation called the
Jim Landers Foundation, because my dad’s friend was killed in a hunting
accident. Their hosting a fishing tournament in his honor and it might be this
weekend I’m not sure. But the reason that relates to photography is because
that would be my ride to the lake. We’d be going to Wind Creek which is a
pretty scenic place because it’s a national and state park. They have a huge
light house there and I could probably do some really cool illusion type photos
there.

Blog #9
I haven’t taken any photos in a while. And quite frankly the
weather has been poop. I feel like I have a type of writers block but with
photography. I don’t know how to explain it really. There aren’t a lot of
things to take pictures of around my house anymore. I could go back and take
some photos of stuff I’ve taken just to see if I’ve improved any. I may stay up
until 2 a.m. And attempt to take some
photos of the lunar eclipse or whatever is happening tonight. I’ve started to
think about some ideas for the presentation that will be coming up eventually.
The “blood moon” thing might be hard to see due to the rain and clouds and I
may just be wasting my time, but I need to take some photos. I was thinking
about doing a power point or put something together with movie maker. I need to
come up with a way to make my speech fluent and easy to follow which is
something I struggle with I think. I’ll probably just watch a few ted talks to
see how they talk and present their information. It will probably be a watered
down version of one of those.
Right now I’m watching the Bill Nye
vs. Ken Ham debate and it’s interesting to watch how they use Rhetoric. Bill
Nye talks as if he’s trying to make you trust him and befriend him. And on the
contrary Ken Ham shoves information down your throat. But he also uses a lot of
examples of scientists who believe in creationism which doesn’t even argue his
case very well. Bill Nye brings up information and “facts” and he talks to you
like a friend. But I just heard Bill Nye say furthermore, and I remember learning
that in class. I'm done rambling though.
